Mint Automatic Floor Cleaner – How to Clean Floors Without Breaking a Sweat

January 29th, 2011

Lets face it, who likes to cleans floors? I know that I don’t, but unfortunately I’ve had a lot of practice. I hate cleaning floors but I dislike living in a dirty house even more. I’m sure that you can relate to this? Personally I’d much rather be out playing a round of Golf or goofing around with the kids. But who can afford to pay to have a maid tidy up after you?

Well it appears that technology may finally have come to the rescue. We’ve all lived with washing machines, dishwashers and other useful cleaning devices for a long time now so I guess it’s not really a surprise that robotic floor cleaners have made an appearance. Most people have probably heard of a Roomba, the robotic vacuum cleaner that made a debut a few years back, but it is still expensive and not suited to everyone.

If, like me, you don’t have carpets in your house, apart from the occasional rug, then you may be interested in a different type of automatic floor cleaner such as that developed by Evolution Robotics. The Mint is not a vacuum cleaner, it’s more of an automated Swiffer robot and if you’ve every used a Swiffer mop then you’ll know how well they can clean a floor. Now imagine a small motorised version of this add some clever electronics for navigating and there you have it.

These Mint types of automatic floor cleaners are low maintenance, quiet and very easy to use. They are only good for hard floor surface such as hardwood, laminate, concrete or tiled floors but if you fall into this category then you may want to consider one.

They are simple to use. The cleaning cloths attach in seconds, you turn on the navigation cube then press the start button on the robot and off it goes to clean your room. Because they aren’t vacuum cleaners they run whisper quiet so that you can have it clean a floor whilst you are sleeping or reading a book.

So what do you gain by using a robotic floor cleaner? In one word ‘TIME’. You get to keep the time that you saved from not having to clean the floors to spend on doing something more worth while. But there are other benefits as well.

You no longer have to keep bending down to clean under sofas and coffee tables as most of these automated cleaners can get under the smallest

furniture and pick up dust and dirt in the tightest corners which you’d probably never reach anyway. So it’s better for your knees and back.

Imagine, no more breaking into a sweat carrying buckets of water around. In fact of you break into a sweat with the Mint robot then you must be doing something wrong as it only weighs 4 lbs.

Black and Decker PSV1800 Review – 3 Reasons to Find This Vacuum in Your Kitchen Closet

January 27th, 2011

The Black and Decker PSV1800 has a lot of things going for it that many other upright cordless vacuums do not. Not only does it have more power than the average cordless vacuum but it also has an affordable price tag when compared to many of the other stick vacuums in its class. There are three reasons however why this little stick vacuum rates so well with consumers and gets high marks at all of the major review sites.

Pivoting Head and Arm – This one feature alone makes the Black and Decker PSV1800 a winner, designed to get into places that most other vacuums can’t this handy little stick vacuum folds to allow to use it under couches and other furniture without having to reach down to the floor to do so. A pivot half way up the handle allows you access under beds, chairs couches and more.

Pivots on the sides of the head offer you the ability to get up close to walls, into corners, and around furniture without having to crawl around on the floor to do so. This is one of the first stick vacuums that have come up with an effective work around to allow you to do all of your vacuum with the vacuum rather than try to use a hose to finish up your cleaning.

The Black and Decker PSV1800 is Incredibly compact - Looking for a vacuum to take with you in your motorhome or that will fit in your tiny apartment? This little stick vacuum folds in half and will fit neatly in a closet, under a counter or table or any other corner that you have available for it. It comes with a charging cradle that it sits in for stability and is small enough that it can be tucked away just about any place.

A three Stage filter ensures the Dirt Stays Where it Belongs - One of the things that vacuums have not always been very good at, especially stick vacuums was trapping the dirt. In many cases dirt ended back up in the air which then means that it ends up back on your carpet. The three stage filter is designed to trap all of the dirt keeping it in the vacuum where it belongs and not back in your house.

Overall the Black and Decker PSV1800 gets 4 stars where ever you look, some people found it a bit unwieldy to use while others did not care for the fact the design did not leave room for a removable cup. Unfortunately these are less design flaws than they are necessities based on what the vacuum is designed to provide which is a highly compact and easy to maneuver stick vacuum for those who need it.
